KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS RECEIVES STEM GRANT
FROM TOSHIBA AMERICA FOUNDATION FOR $3,905
Vancouver, WA (November 14, 2018) – King’s Way Christian Schools is pleased to announce it has received a $3,905 STEM grant from the Toshiba America Foundation (TAF). These funds will support the implementation of new biotechnology lab equipment for high school students and improve inquiry-based science instruction with a continuum of learning experiences.
This project will help high school students gain critical laboratory skills and increase their exposure to biotechnology concepts and applications, giving a renewed perspective of biotechnology that affects our everyday lives.
King’s Way Christian’s Superintendent Dr. Jason Tindol said, “King’s Way Christian seeks to partner with parents in equipping the whole student. We are grateful to partner with businesses that provided funding and resources that further enhance the academic programs at King’s Way Christian School. Toshiba is providing resources that will enable our faculty to help train and shape students to impact their communities in the future.”
Toshiba America Foundation’s grants fund projects designed by individual classroom teachers. This “direct-to-teacher” approach brings immediate results. Teachers are able to change the way they teach Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects because the grant supports equipment for hands-on experiments and inquiry-based approaches to the curriculum. At TAF, we believe that STEM is a lot more fun than just reading a textbook. TAF grants provide teachers with the tools they need to be more effective educators. The grants make the classroom a more exciting place for both teachers and students.
“We are excited for the opportunity to include biotechnology into the sciences this year. This grant will allow us to purchase lab equipment to help engage our students and further our hands-on learning,” said Biology teacher, Juli Bristowe.
