mEET OUR Superintendent
Dr. Jason Tindol
Dr. Jason Tindol, a family man, is happily married to his college sweetheart. He and Jody share their home with their three children Kinsey, Avery, and Weston Riley. Jason holds two B.S. degrees in history education and PE, a Master’s in Educational Administration, an Education Specialist in School Leadership and Curriculum, and holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Supervision and Leadership from Union University. In May 2020, Jason finished a Certification in Advanced Educational Leadership (CAEL) at Harvard University.
Jason’s passion in education is school development in academics, arts, and athletic programs. He understands the key to quality education is through building sound relationships with the constituents of the school, community, and local churches.
His vision is to reach the community with authentic education that uses the platforms of academics, arts, and athletics to improve community.

Arnie Kainu

Arne Kainu
Retired CEO in Business Consulting | Board Member Start 2016
Arne, married to Melinda, is the father of four adult daughters that all attended King’s Way. Arne and his family have been part of the King’s Way community for over twenty-five years and have continually worshipped at Vancouver Church for over 30 years.
Arne retired as president and CEO of NTT Centerstance in 2015 after founding the company in 2003. While there, Arne provided business consulting and technology services to client leaders to address their critical business processes and initiatives. He brings over 25 years of experience serving clients in a variety of industries including high tech, manufacturing, utilities, transportation, financial services, health care, telecommunications, non-profits, and consumer products.
Arne understands the relationships between people, processes and technology, and how each is important to the effective operation of any organization. What he appreciates most about King’s Way Christian Schools is that it’s an outstanding school that encourages a student in their walk with Christ, regardless of where a student is on their journey.
He enjoys serving on the Board because King’s Way is constantly in the process of becoming better than it was yesterday.
Matt Disbrow

Matt Disbrow
Real Estate Developer | Board Member Start 2022
Matt is a seasoned business executive with a broad career spanning multiple industries. He began in sales and operations within the pulp and paper industry before earning his M.B.A. and transitioning into the technology sector. Over a 15-year tenure at Hewlett Packard, he advanced through various supply chain leadership roles—culminating as Vice President of Worldwide Strategic Sourcing, overseeing global procurement strategies.
In 2019, Matt made the intentional decision to step back from corporate life and prioritize time with family. He founded Visionary Property Development (VPD), a local real estate development firm focused on residential multi-family and single-family projects. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Business and Economics at Western Washington University and an M.B.A. from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.
Since joining the King’s Way Board in 2022, Matt has been a key contributor to the construction committee, providing strategic oversight to the school’s campus expansion initiative. His business acumen and operational insight bring valuable perspective to long-range planning and capital development efforts.
Matt and his wife, Kristen, are deeply committed to living a Christ-centered life. In 2018, they chose to enroll their children at King’s Way to invest in their sons’ Christian faith journeys during their formative school years. Their three boys—classes of 2023, 2026, 2028—have flourished in an environment that has shaped their spiritual growth and encouraged them to explore their walk with the Lord.
Outside of work and Board service, Matt enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and nearly anything outdoors. A passionate baseball fan, he has loved supporting his sons through years of athletic involvement in baseball, football, golf, cross country, and basketball at King’s Way.

Early Educator & Accounting Professional | Board Member Start 2021
Laurie began her career teaching preschool, then middle school English and drama at King’s Way—roles she describes as some of her favorites. She later supported her husband’s construction company by managing the accounting department. Armed with a B.S. in Education, Laurie is deeply rooted in Christian education, having joined King’s Way at age 16 as a Learning Center caregiver. Over the past four decades, she has faithfully served as a teacher, board member, and co-campaign leader for the high school building initiative. “It feels so right to once again be serving at KWCS,” she says. “I love KW and for over 40 years have believed in its mission to bring a Christ‑centered education to the children of Clark County. What an honor to serve.”
Laurie’s lifelong connection to King’s Way—first as staff, then a parent, and now board member—gives her a unique perspective on the school’s impact. As a member of the Board, she brings institutional memory, educational insight, and a heart for mission-driven growth, particularly in areas of capital expansion and community engagement.
Married to Otto, Laurie is the proud mother of three adult children—all King’s Way alumni—and a grandmother to five grandchildren. Outside of board service, she enjoys spending time with family and remains actively involved as a faithful advocate for the school’s mission, values, and future.
Rachelle Quinn

Rachelle Quinn
Licensed CPA & Business Administrator | Board Member Start 2022
Rachelle is a licensed CPA and holds a Doctorate in Business Administration. Much of her professional career has been dedicated to public accounting—serving nonprofit clients in higher education, healthcare, and foundation sectors. She has also served in higher education as an accounting professor at Clark College, Portland State University, and Concordia University. Currently, she serves as the Vice President of Risk Adjustment Data & Analytics at Kaiser Permanente, where she leads data science initiatives and brings expertise in strategic analysis, risk management, and systems thinking.
Rachelle and her husband, Jim, are proud parents of two King’s Way daughters—Classes of 2022 and 2025—both of whom are collegiate athletes in basketball and volleyball. Their family’s experience at King’s Way has been deeply transformative, drawing them closer to God and enriching their lives in meaningful ways. Teachers, coaches, and staff have known and celebrated her daughters personally, walking with their family through seasons of both triumph and challenge.
As a result, Rachelle serves on the Board out of deep gratitude and a desire to give back to the community that has given her family so much. She is passionate about helping preserve and advance the mission of King’s Way so that more families can experience its unique impact on faith, education, and personal growth.
Outside of her professional work and Board service, Rachelle enjoys reading, weight lifting, and spending time with her church community—living out her commitment to lifelong learning, wellness, and faith in every area of life.

Educator | Board Member Start 2025
Yen, married to Andrew, is the mother of two daughters who both attend King’s Way, currently in the Classes of 2033 and 2036. Since moving to Vancouver in 2015, Yen has served the school in a variety of roles—including as a substitute teacher, classroom volunteer, event coordinator, and now as a dedicated member of the Board of Directors.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from George Fox University and a Master’s in Intercultural Studies/TESOL from Wheaton College, Yen brings 15 years of educational experience across both elementary and adult education. In 2021, she made the intentional decision to step away from classroom teaching to focus more fully on her family and serve in ministry through education and leadership support.
Raised in a Christian home and educated in Christian schools from kindergarten through graduate school, Yen attributes much of her adult faith and resilience to the biblical foundation laid in those early years. She is a passionate advocate for ensuring the next generation develops that same strong footing in God’s Word. She deeply values the way King’s Way prioritizes spiritual formation and is grateful to contribute to the strategic oversight of a school so aligned with her heart for faith-driven education.
She and her husband, Andrew, lived in Chicago before relocating to Vancouver in 2015. Together with their two daughters, they enjoy traveling and staying engaged in their children’s schooling, growth, and passions.
James Phillips

Senior Accountant & Nonprofit Founder | Board Member Start 2024
James is a Senior Accountant in the Treasury department at Nike, Inc., where he focuses on foreign currency (FX) transaction controls and SEC reporting. His professional expertise in financial operations and regulatory compliance brings valuable insight to strategic financial oversight at King’s Way.
In addition to his corporate career, James is the founder of The City League Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization centered on community building through basketball. Through its two flagship initiatives—the Vancouver City League (VCL) and the Vancouver City Youth League (VCYL)—he leads efforts to offer premier, accessible basketball programming to both adults and youth in the Vancouver area. His leadership reflects a deep belief in the power of sports to unite communities and shape young lives.
James and his wife are the proud parents of two young sons, including a newborn and a three-year-old. His passion for mentorship, operational excellence, and meaningful community impact aligns closely with King’s Way’s mission to develop students in both faith and character. As a board member, he contributes a unique blend of financial acumen, nonprofit leadership, and heart for the next generation.

Scott Staples
Attorney & Shareholder | Board Member Start 2025
Scott is an attorney licensed to practice in both Washington and Oregon, with a Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law and a B.A. from Washington State University Vancouver. Since 2007, he has practiced law at Schauermann Thayer, becoming a shareholder in 2010. His firm specializes in plaintiff’s personal injury and wrongful death cases, where Scott brings both legal expertise and a deep sense of advocacy to his work.
A longtime member of the King’s Way community, Scott has been involved in multiple facets of school life—including coaching seventh and eighth grade boys basketball and supporting his children through more than a decade of enrollment at the school. His son, class of 2028, and his daughter, class of 2031 have both attended King’s Way since kindergarten. His wife, Lesley, and he are both Clark County natives, married since 2001. Their oldest daughter is graduating from Columbia River High School and will be attending the University of Denver in the fall. The family’s connection to King’s Way runs deep—Scott’s mother was a kindergarten teacher at the school until her retirement in 2007.
Joining the Board in 2025, Scott stepped into this leadership role out of a desire to invest more meaningfully in causes that align with his family’s values and his passion for Christian education. He values the deep relationships formed within the King’s Way community and is honored to contribute to the school’s mission of faith-based excellence through strategic leadership and service

Superintendent & Education Executive | Board Member Start 2025
Mike is a lifelong educator with a distinguished 38-year career in public education, having served as a Teacher, Principal, Associate Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Superintendent. His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing Education, a Master’s in Education, and a Doctorate in Education with a focus on Administration. He also holds both Washington State Superintendent and Administrative Certificates.
Drawn by his deep passion for Christ-centered education and servant leadership, Mike joined the King’s Way Board in Spring 2025. He currently serves on both the Finance and Construction Committees, contributing his strategic leadership experience to help guide King’s Way’s continued growth and operational excellence.
Mike’s faith journey has been one of ongoing discovery—shaped by his early education in Christian schools and his longtime involvement in church communities. He and his wife, Erin, have attended New Heights Church for over 17 years and are committed to walking in Christ’s grace, growing in compassion, and serving the broader Christian community with humility and purpose.
Married for over 36 years, Mike and Erin are the proud parents of three grown sons, all of whom are married and living in the Vancouver–Ridgefield area. They are now enjoying life as grandparents and love spending time together outdoors—running, hiking, lifting weights, water skiing, and enjoying a wide range of water sports. Mike considers it a blessing to steward the mission of King’s Way through board service, helping create an educational environment that nurtures both academic and spiritual growth.

Land Acquisition Manager | Board Member Start 2025
Mike serves as the Land Acquisition Manager at Pacific Lifestyle Homes and Garrette Custom Homes, where the mission is “Building Better Lives.” With over two decades of professional experience, Mike has held senior leadership roles in both corporate and nonprofit sectors—including Chief Human Resources Officer, Executive Director, President, and Chief Compliance Officer. He holds both bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees from Portland State University and brings valuable expertise in organizational leadership, strategic planning, and team development to the King’s Way Board of Directors.
As a father of three sons who are currently in high school at King’s Way, MIke has seen firsthand the school’s powerful influence in shaping young men of faith, confidence, and purpose. A devoted follower of Jesus, he is passionate about supporting a school that raises bold, Christ-centered leaders. He counts it a privilege to help steward the mission of King’s Way and is committed to advancing its impact as a place where faith, excellence, and future leadership converge.
Mike and his family live life to the fullest—whether it’s supporting their sons in baseball, basketball, soccer, golf, and track, or enjoying the great outdoors through fishing, hunting, and hiking. They're also avid fans of IndyCar and Formula 1 racing—and with three growing boys, there’s never a shortage of sports, energy, or meal prepping.

With a career marked by commitment to Christ-centered education and transformative leadership, Dr. Tindol brings over 30 years of experience in school leadership to his role as Superintendent. Since joining King’s Way in July 2018, he has led the Executive Team and served as the direct report to the Board of Directors. As the school’s innovative and entrepreneurial leader he is actively implementing the Vision/Traction model to promote organizational clarity, operational health, and strategic unity across all divisions of the school.

Experience
Daven brings over a decade of leadership experience at King’s Way, where he has served in a wide range of roles since August of 2011—including PE teacher, Dean of Students, Middle School Principal, and now Advancement Administrator. He is also the school’s Director of Safety and Security and previously led the high school boys’ varsity basketball program for 10 seasons. This deep and diverse experience gives him a unique understanding of King’s Way’s culture, mission, and long-range needs.

A passionate and mission-driven leader, Daven embodies the heart of King’s Way—dedicated, relational, and focused on stewarding the school’s growth with excellence. As Advancement Administrator, he oversees fundraising strategies, donor engagement, admissions, marketing, and external communications, playing a key role in supporting the voice of the school.
A committed follower of Christ, Daven credits mentors and former coaches—including Coach Tony Bennett at WSU—for shaping his vision to invest in the next generation through Christian education. His deep roots in Clark County and unwavering belief in the school’s mission drive his enthusiastic leadership. As he often says, “I bleed KW!” and the staff would agree.
Outside of work, Daven and his wife, Haley, are celebrating 10 years of marriage in the summer of 2025. They have three young children—Classes of 2037, 2039, 2042—all of whom attend the Learning Center at King’s Way, making his commitment to the school both professional and deeply personal. He enjoys spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and golfing.

A licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Laura brings over 17 years of experience in public accounting, specializing in tax preparation and financial consulting for small and mid-sized businesses. Known for her attention to detail and practical financial insight, she has successfully guided clients through complex regulatory environments and reporting obligations.

Laura joined King’s Way Christian Schools in January 2022 as Business Administrator, where she leads the school’s financial operations, oversees budgeting and compliance, and partners with the Executive Team on long-range planning and capital strategy. Her financial acumen and commitment to operational excellence play a critical role in stewarding the school’s resources and supporting sustainable growth.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time outdoors and riding horses. She is also a proud parent of two daughters, ages 11 and 14, who both attend King’s Way, giving her a unique dual perspective as both a leader and invested school parent.

Experience
Sarah has worked professionally as a nationally certified ASL/English interpreter prior transitioning into administrative and strategic operational roles. She brings over a decade of leadership experience spanning payroll, human resources, management coaching, leadership development, and Lean process improvement, most of which was gained at the School for the Deaf in Vancouver Washington. At King’s Way, she serves as the Chief of Staff on the Executive Team, helping bring vision to reality through practical systems, strategic alignment, and cross-departmental leadership.

Sarah brings steadiness, care, and clarity to the day-to-day operations of King’s Way. Staff often describe her as a source of calm and stability, with a unique gift for uncovering barriers and uniting people around common purpose. She sees her role not just as operational, but deeply spiritual—shaped by her own walk with Christ which began at the age of 8 on the floor of her best friend’s bedroom without a church to call home. As Chief of Staff, she works alongside the Superintendent with all departments. If he is the visionary and the heart behind the “what” and “why” of the King’s Way mission, she helps ensure the vision turns to action focusing on the “when” and “how”, rooted in a desire to steward the mission with excellence.
Outside of work, Sarah is blessed to be the stepmom to two King’s Way alumni and treasures the opportunity to see the school’s mission realized in the lives of students. A homebody at heart, she enjoys quiet time with a good book, tackling puzzles, and gardening. Her personal and professional journey reflects a deep gratitude for God’s leading and the privilege of serving within a community where faith and work so meaningfully intersect.

Experience
With over 20 years of experience in the Early Learning field, Desiree brings a deep well of knowledge, leadership, and passion to King’s Way’s youngest learners. Her professional journey has included teaching across all early childhood age groups, leading and coaching Learning Centers throughout Clark County, and advocating for children, families, and teachers at the state level.
Since joining King’s Way, Desiree has been instrumental in strengthening the school’s early learning program by fostering a whole-child approach—placing special emphasis on helping each student grow in their awareness of God’s love and truth from the earliest stages of life. Her leadership is marked by collaboration, innovation, and a sincere care for both staff and families.

In her role, Desiree leads the Learning Center team that serves students from 12 months through Pre-K, as well as students enrolled in the before- and after-school care program. Her work ensures that children are nurtured in a safe, engaging, and Christ-centered environment during their most formative years.
A Vancouver native, Desiree and her husband enjoy discovering new restaurants and playing games as a family. They have two children—an older son currently pursuing a career in nursing, and a daughter whose love for neighborhood stray cats has earned the family a feline population of four. Outside of work, she finds joy in traveling, baking, and spending hours browsing local bookstores.

With over a decade of experience in both public and private education, Tom has served as a teacher and administrator across international and U.S. school systems. After growing up, training, and teaching in the United Kingdom, he brings a global perspective and a deep understanding of student learning and staff development. His leadership at King’s Way began in August of 2018 and has been marked by clarity, compassion, and commitment—guiding the elementary campus through pivotal transitions, including facility moves, academic alignment, and staff support through seasons of change.

Outside of his role, Tom finds joy in life’s simple moments—whether that’s exploring the Pacific Northwest with his wife and two young daughters (ages 3 and 5), returning to his UK roots for family visits, or savoring a quiet morning coffee. His blend of international experience, deep faith, and driven leadership make him a stoic part of the King’s Way community with a beloved English accent.

Experience
Lynette brings over 17 years of experience in K–12 education, having transitioned from early childhood leadership to School Administration. Prior to her current role, she served as the T–8 Administrator and Early Childhood Education Director at King’s Way, and previously worked with Christian Youth Theater as an area coordinator. Her professional journey reflects a deep commitment to educational excellence and Christian formation.

Marcus has spent the past 10 years in education, with a balance of classroom teaching and school leadership roles. After four years in the classroom, he transitioned into administration, working two years as Principal at a private christian school before joining King’s Way as the Vice Principal in the High School where served three years before stepping into his current role as High School Principal.

Marcus brings a strong pastoral heart and steady presence to his leadership. Passionate about faith formation and the spiritual lives of students and staff, he is deeply committed to helping others grow in their walk with God. Raised in the church, he has long embraced the call to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and that mission permeates his work as an educator and principal.
Known among his colleagues for his calm, approachable demeanor and steadfast commitment to the school’s mission, Marcus is a comforting and dependable leader who champions the spiritual and academic development of every student under his care. His leadership helps set a tone of trust, excellence, and Christ-centered purpose throughout the high school.
Marcus and his wife, Kim-Maree, are proud parents of two boys both of whom attend King’s Way. Their family loves the Pacific Northwest and enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time outdoors together.

Matt is a seasoned business executive with a broad career spanning multiple industries. He began in sales and operations within the pulp and paper industry before earning his M.B.A. and transitioning into the technology sector. Over a 15-year tenure at Hewlett Packard, he advanced through various supply chain leadership roles—culminating as Vice President of Worldwide Strategic Sourcing, overseeing global procurement strategies.
In 2019, Matt made the intentional decision to step back from corporate life and prioritize time with family. He founded Visionary Property Development (VPD), a local real estate development firm focused on residential multi-family and single-family projects. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Business and Economics at Western Washington University and an M.B.A. from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.
Since joining the King’s Way Board in 2022, Matt has been a key contributor to the construction committee, providing strategic oversight to the school’s campus expansion initiative. His business acumen and operational insight bring valuable perspective to long-range planning and capital development efforts.
Matt and his wife, Kristen, are deeply committed to living a Christ-centered life. In 2018, they chose to enroll their children at King’s Way to invest in their sons’ Christian faith journeys during their formative school years. Their three boys—classes of 2023, 2026, 2028—have flourished in an environment that has shaped their spiritual growth and encouraged them to explore their walk with the Lord.
Outside of work and Board service, Matt enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and nearly anything outdoors. A passionate baseball fan, he has loved supporting his sons through years of athletic involvement in baseball, football, golf, cross country, and basketball at King’s Way.

Laurie began her career teaching preschool, then middle school English and drama at King’s Way—roles she describes as some of her favorites. She later supported her husband’s construction company by managing the accounting department. Armed with a B.S. in Education, Laurie is deeply rooted in Christian education, having joined King’s Way at age 16 as a Learning Center caregiver. Over the past four decades, she has faithfully served as a teacher, board member, and co-campaign leader for the high school building initiative. “It feels so right to once again be serving at KWCS,” she says. “I love KW and for over 40 years have believed in its mission to bring a Christ‑centered education to the children of Clark County. What an honor to serve.”
Laurie’s lifelong connection to King’s Way—first as staff, then a parent, and now board member—gives her a unique perspective on the school’s impact. As a member of the Board, she brings institutional memory, educational insight, and a heart for mission-driven growth, particularly in areas of capital expansion and community engagement.

Rachelle is a licensed CPA and holds a Doctorate in Business Administration. Much of her professional career has been dedicated to public accounting—serving nonprofit clients in higher education, healthcare, and foundation sectors. She has also served in higher education as an accounting professor at Clark College, Portland State University, and Concordia University. Currently, she serves as the Vice President of Risk Adjustment Data & Analytics at Kaiser Permanente, where she leads data science initiatives and brings expertise in strategic analysis, risk management, and systems thinking.
Rachelle and her husband, Jim, are proud parents of two King’s Way daughters—Classes of 2022 and 2025—both of whom are collegiate athletes in basketball and volleyball. Their family’s experience at King’s Way has been deeply transformative, drawing them closer to God and enriching their lives in meaningful ways. Teachers, coaches, and staff have known and celebrated her daughters personally, walking with their family through seasons of both triumph and challenge.
As a result, Rachelle serves on the Board out of deep gratitude and a desire to give back to the community that has given her family so much. She is passionate about helping preserve and advance the mission of King’s Way so that more families can experience its unique impact on faith, education, and personal growth.

Yen, married to Andrew, is the mother of two daughters who both attend King’s Way, currently in the Classes of 2033 and 2036. Since moving to Vancouver in 2015, Yen has served the school in a variety of roles—including as a substitute teacher, classroom volunteer, event coordinator, and now as a dedicated member of the Board of Directors.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from George Fox University and a Master’s in Intercultural Studies/TESOL from Wheaton College, Yen brings 15 years of educational experience across both elementary and adult education. In 2021, she made the intentional decision to step away from classroom teaching to focus more fully on her family and serve in ministry through education and leadership support.
Raised in a Christian home and educated in Christian schools from kindergarten through graduate school, Yen attributes much of her adult faith and resilience to the biblical foundation laid in those early years. She is a passionate advocate for ensuring the next generation develops that same strong footing in God’s Word. She deeply values the way King’s Way prioritizes spiritual formation and is grateful to contribute to the strategic oversight of a school so aligned with her heart for faith-driven education.
She and her husband, Andrew, lived in Chicago before relocating to Vancouver in 2015. Together with their two daughters, they enjoy traveling and staying engaged in their children’s schooling, growth, and passions.

James is a Senior Accountant in the Treasury department at Nike, Inc., where he focuses on foreign currency (FX) transaction controls and SEC reporting. His professional expertise in financial operations and regulatory compliance brings valuable insight to strategic financial oversight at King’s Way.
In addition to his corporate career, James is the founder of The City League Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization centered on community building through basketball. Through its two flagship initiatives—the Vancouver City League (VCL) and the Vancouver City Youth League (VCYL)—he leads efforts to offer premier, accessible basketball programming to both adults and youth in the Vancouver area. His leadership reflects a deep belief in the power of sports to unite communities and shape young lives.
James and his wife are the proud parents of two young sons, including a newborn and a three-year-old. His passion for mentorship, operational excellence, and meaningful community impact aligns closely with King’s Way’s mission to develop students in both faith and character. Scott is an attorney licensed to practice in both Washington and Oregon, with a Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law and a B.A. from Washington State University Vancouver. Since 2007, he has practiced law at Schauermann Thayer, becoming a shareholder in 2010. His firm specializes in plaintiff’s personal injury and wrongful death cases, where Scott brings both legal expertise and a deep sense of advocacy to his work.
A longtime member of the King’s Way community, Scott has been involved in multiple facets of school life—including coaching seventh and eighth grade boys basketball and supporting his children through more than a decade of enrollment at the school. His son, class of 2028, and his daughter, class of 2031 have both attended King’s Way since kindergarten. His wife, Lesley, and he are both Clark County natives, married since 2001. Their oldest daughter is graduating from Columbia River High School and will be attending the University of Denver in the fall. The family’s connection to King’s Way runs deep—Scott’s mother was a kindergarten teacher at the school until her retirement in 2007.
Joining the Board in 2025, Scott stepped into this leadership role out of a desire to invest more meaningfully in causes that align with his family’s values and his passion for Christian education. He values the deep relationships formed within the King’s Way community and is honored to contribute to the school’s mission of faith-based excellence through strategic leadership and service

Mike is a lifelong educator with a distinguished 38-year career in public education, having served as a Teacher, Principal, Associate Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Superintendent. His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Marketing Education, a Master’s in Education, and a Doctorate in Education with a focus on Administration. He also holds both Washington State Superintendent and Administrative Certificates.
Drawn by his deep passion for Christ-centered education and servant leadership, Mike joined the King’s Way Board in Spring 2025. He currently serves on both the Finance and Construction Committees, contributing his strategic leadership experience to help guide King’s Way’s continued growth and operational excellence.
Mike’s faith journey has been one of ongoing discovery—shaped by his early education in Christian schools and his longtime involvement in church communities. He and his wife, Erin, have attended New Heights Church for over 17 years and are committed to walking in Christ’s grace, growing in compassion, and serving the broader Christian community with humility and purpose.
Married for over 36 years, Mike and Erin are the proud parents of three grown sons, all of whom are married and living in the Vancouver–Ridgefield area. They are now enjoying life as grandparents and love spending time together outdoors—running, hiking, lifting weights, water skiing, and enjoying a wide range of water sports. Mike considers it a blessing to steward the mission of King’s Way through board service, helping create an educational environment that nurtures both academic and spiritual growth.

Mike serves as the Land Acquisition Manager at Pacific Lifestyle Homes and Garrette Custom Homes, where the mission is “Building Better Lives.” With over two decades of professional experience, Mike has held senior leadership roles in both corporate and nonprofit sectors—including Chief Human Resources Officer, Executive Director, President, and Chief Compliance Officer. He holds both bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees from Portland State University and brings valuable expertise in organizational leadership, strategic planning, and team development to the King’s Way Board of Directors.
As a father of three sons who are currently in high school at King’s Way, MIke has seen firsthand the school’s powerful influence in shaping young men of faith, confidence, and purpose. A devoted follower of Jesus, he is passionate about supporting a school that raises bold, Christ-centered leaders. She sees her role not just as operational, but deeply spiritual—shaped by her own walk with Christ which began at the age of 8 on the floor of her best friend’s bedroom without a church to call home. As Chief of Staff, she works alongside the Superintendent with all departments. If he is the visionary and the heart behind the “what” and “why” of the King’s Way mission, she helps ensure the vision turns to action focusing on the “when” and “how”, rooted in a desire to steward the mission with excellence.
Outside of work, Sarah is blessed to be the stepmom to two King’s Way alumni and treasures the opportunity to see the school’s mission realized in the lives of students. A homebody at heart, she enjoys quiet time with a good book, tackling puzzles, and gardening. With over 20 years of experience in the Early Learning field, Desiree brings a deep well of knowledge, leadership, and passion to King’s Way’s youngest learners. Her professional journey has included teaching across all early childhood age groups, leading and coaching Learning Centers throughout Clark County, and advocating for children, families, and teachers at the state level.
Since joining King’s Way, Desiree has been instrumental in strengthening the school’s early learning program by fostering a whole-child approach—placing special emphasis on helping each student grow in their awareness of God’s love and truth from the earliest stages of life. Her leadership is marked by collaboration, innovation, and a sincere care for both staff and families.
