The King’s Way Athletic Department is thrilled to announce the hiring of Elizabeth “Ellie” Boon-Townsend, former University of Portland soccer captain and member of the Portland Thorns, as our new Head Coach for Girls Soccer.
Ellie’s elite playing experience is an invaluable asset for our girls soccer program. She prepped locally at Washougal High School earning First Team All-State honors as a freshman, sophomore and junior while also competing on the U18 United States Youth National Team. In 2013 she sat out her senior season to prepare for an accomplished career at the University of Portland. There she earned multiple All-WCC honors and captained the Pilots in 2017. After short professional stints with the Portland Thorns and B.V. Cloppenburg in Germany, Ellie returned home to pursue a Doctor of Physical Therapy at George Fox University. She graduated this year and is now a full time therapist at Ridgefield Physical Therapy.
Ellie has experience as a coach and mentor with the Washington Timbers, The University of Portland Campus Ministries, and as a private soccer coach here in Vancouver. Most importantly Ellie’s vision for the soccer program aligns with King’s Ways approach to partnering with families and pointing students to Christ. She says her goal is to, “build meaningful relationships and maximize talent while providing a supportive environment that nurtures success both on and off the pitch.” Ellie’s passion for the game of soccer and vision for Christ-centered relationships will contribute to a sustainable and bright future for our girls’ program.
