Toddlers & Twos
At King’s Way Learning Center we are eager to prepare children for life. We are excited to have the opportunity to expand our program and minister to families with all ages of children. We believe that a toddler program should be holistic, that is, providing spiritual, language, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development opportunities throughout the day. The staff will encourage and nurture children in a variety of ways based on the child’s personality, interests, and needs as they develop in all areas.
Social & Emotional Development
Children will begin to interact with adults and their friends through gestures and simple words. Teachers will encourage children to use manners by saying please and thank you. Children will problem solve with their friends through negotiation and begin to tell how they feel. They will also learn the names of their friends. Children will begin to understand that they are loved by Jesus, as well as staff, through reading Bible stories, communicating with those around them, as well as giving and receiving many smiles and hugs. Through interaction with teachers and staff, they will learn security and trust. Daily routines will give them stability and foster their emotional growth. They will learn self worth through dramatic play and beginning self-help skills such as using eating utensils and washing hands.
Cognitive Development
Children are given the opportunity to count to 5 or higher verbally and begin to point as they count. They will begin with introduction to 3 basic shapes and four basic colors. In science they will learn to identify animals, basic body parts, foods and their tastes, and the seasons. A major part of their science learning is through the five senses.
Spiritual & Language Development
Children will learn the importance of the Bible, as they learn about Jesus and the many other people God used for His purpose. In circle time, they will be introduced to new vocabulary through Bible stories, songs and finger plays, which they will be able to recall and recite. Group time will give them the opportunity to listen to short and simple stories. Children will learn verbal communication and listening skills. They will learn to use simple sentences and answer questions. Following simple one or two step directions will also be encouraged.
