We believe that a preschool program should be holistic, that is providing spiritual, language, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development opportunities throughout the day. The staff will encourage and nurture children in a variety of ways based on the child’s personality, interests, and needs as they develop in all areas

Three-Four Year Olds

Curriculum for this age group is focused on the development of pre-math and pre-reading skills. Language development is geared toward oral language by listening to stories and learning songs and fingerplays. Cognitive skills are developed through science exploration and counting and pre-math activities. Sensory integration is also an important part of the child’s overall development at this age. Large and fine motor skills are enforced throughout the day.

Four-Five Year Olds

Science and sensory exploration is integrated throughout the day. Literacy is promoted through a print-rich environment where children are exposed to letters and words in daily life in order to enforce letter recognition. Stories, songs, and fingerplays during circle time encourage children to have fun with language while still learning important concepts necessary for reading readiness. Large and fine motor skills are enforced throughout the day.

King’s Way Learning Center Curriculum

Teachers create and develop an age appropriate curriculum that is specialized for each classroom. Activities are based around weekly themes and Bible stories in order to promote Biblical integration into all areas. Art focuses on the process of creating with little importance put on the appearance of the final product. Children are encouraged to creatively express themselves through their work. Social and emotional skills are improved through Christian concept development. Each age group has learning objectives every month in science, math, large and fine motor, as well as language and literacy for four to five year olds. These objectives provide areas of focus as well as benchmarks for learning.

Classroom environments are specifically designed for each age group to encourage discovery. Learning centers are set up in each room to provide opportunities for hand’s-on reinforcement of concepts and skills.

Children meet together once a week for Chapel in order to emphasize our weekly Bible story and concept. This also provides a time of togetherness and fellowship with other classes and ages.
